People often use flashcards to remember the information they need. Internet Polyglot expands on this idea by making the process much more enjoyable: not only are digital flashcards easier to work with since they are digital, but games have been created to boost the learning process by making it much more fun and exciting. In addition, Internet Polyglot remembers your results, and uses this data to train you with these words much more intensively than with the words you know well.

Foreign Languages

Internet Polyglot is designed to help you learn the foreign language of your choice. You can learn Spanish, French, Chinese or English even if English is your mother tongue and become a true polyglot. When you create your lessons you specify the languages that you want for your words and translations. For example, if you learn Spanish you may want to create lessons with Spanish as the word language and English as the translation language. When you want to learn English and your native language is Spanish you will want to create lessons with English as the word language and Spanish as the translation language. And when you are a native English speaker but want to improve your vocabulary, create lessons with English as the word and translation languages. Learning English is a lifetime process and one should not neglect it.

My Lessons

This is where you create and modify your lessons, and share them with your friends. This is also where you start memorizing your words: check one or more of the lessons available using the checkboxes, select the type of game you want to play, and click "Play." You should already be logged in as a registered member to manage your lessons.

Lessons

Here you will find lessons accessible to you: public lessons created by other members, lessons shared with you directly, and the lessons you have created yourself. Besides, it can be a good idea to play with reverse lessons. Register

We highly recommend that you become a registered member of Internet Polyglot. Benefits of registration include:
  • Creating and managing your own lessons. By entering words into Internet Polyglot as soon as you encounter them, you will not need to rely on other members' lessons to learn the material, especially because they will most likely not have the exact words you need.
  • A function that allows Internet Polyglot to remember your results while you play the memorizing games, and to present you with the words you have difficulty with more often. This way, you will not have to go over material you already know, and will be able to focus on what you really need to study.
  • The ability to grade lessons created by other people.
  • The ability for a language teacher to create lessons for his or her students that have direct relevance to the class material, and will help students progress in the class by boosting the speed at which they learn these words.

What Internet Polyglot is not

  • Internet Polyglot should not be used as the sole device for learning a foreign language. It is intended to be a way to help you memorize material, not learn it. You should already understand the subject, and know the material: then Internet Polyglot will help you remember it. In fact, we highly recommend that you use this program along with one of your favorite language courses, or while actively reading a book. Active reading is a way of reading books where you continuously check the definitions of words you don't know. Use Internet Polyglot concurrently to study these words and memorize their definitions.
  • Internet Polyglot should not be used as an English dictionary, or Spanish dictionary, or French dictionary, or any other language dictionary. There are plenty online dictionaries where you can find Spanish or French translations for any word.
